Where has the time gone? One minute it was summer and now suddenly the nights are drawing in and the temperature is dropping. Am I the only one who feels like that?

I don’t know about you, but I end up eyeing the thermostat and keep debating whether or not to turn it up. I’ve got a green/eco-friendly energy supplier but even so, I feel guilty every time I do so much as thinking about changing the temperature setting. It’s really bad for the environment, and on top of that gas prices have been climbing lately (a lot). The internet says that by turning your thermostat down by 1 degree, you can save 50€ -100€ per year. 100€! By turning the heating down 1 degree! That seems wild to me, and frankly, I wouldn’t mind the extra money, especially with the festive season around the corner.

So, what’s the alternate plan for staying warm this winter, you ask? If there’s one thing I love about this time of year, it’s being able to keep nice and warm inside in front of the TV while it’s cold and miserable outside. That’s something I’m not willing to give up this year, bill increase or not.

As I’m not upping the heating, my favourite way is a cosy sweater (or two), and snuggling up under my Sensede heated fleece blanket or my Sensede heated pillow to help warm my back. They both come off my electric bill and not my gas bill, so, hang on… electricity costs money as well, right? I need to do some quick mental calculations… that’s 2,5 cents per hour if I put the pillow or the blanket on their highest settings and 7,5 cents if I want to curl up on the sofa in front of Netflix for the evening. And I know I feel the cold super easily, so everything is definitely on the highest of the three settings. That’s actually pretty a bargain in terms of price – 7,5 cents for an evening of warmth. I’ll take that and a possible 100€ saving to my annual gas bill any day of the week.

Honestly though, when I’m curled up in the evenings like that, all snuggled in and warm under my blanket, my head or back resting against my pillow (depending on my mood, and how much of the sofa I want to take up), something romantic on TV and hot chocolate to drink, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. Certainly, nowhere else I’d rather weather out all the colder, darker months have to offer. I’m probably a bit addicted to using both the pillow and the blanket, but I promise you, try it for yourselves and you’ll see that they absolutely create the perfect cosy environment and level of warmth this winter. And I’ve still got enough money left to buy everyone some fantastic gifts this year! Maybe a Sensede heating pillow! Hooray!

Sending the warmest of winter wishes,
Emma
